- The book, written in Spanish and translated by G. Núñez de Prado.
- The author Samuel Smiles, Scottish author and reformer. He occupied important positions, editor of an important newspaper, secretary of the Leeds reformation, etc. He also wrote a number of works, including Self-Help, Character, Thrift, Duty, etc.
- In this edition of Duty, phrases by Tennyson and J. G. Whittie are added.
- It has a beautiful embossed binding, Modernist style, probably from the First Half of the 20th Century.

- Good execution sewn binding, with guillotined cuts, from the First Half of the 20th Century. probably.
- Text in single-colour black printing, very good ink, well centred and with good margins.
- Book printed on tan paper, of medium thickness and good quality.
- Hard covers in full red publisher's cloth, as is the spine and of good quality.
- Front cover, back cover and spine, embossed. No dust jacket.
- Cover is stamped in gilt 'S. Smiles. The Duty'.
- Stamped on spine: Smiles. El Deber.
- Smooth dark green-grey editorial paper endpapers.
Conservation and damage:
- General Condition: Good.
- Sewn binding in good condition.
- Cuts very well preserved and with minimal soiling.
- The pages are in good condition, with no tears or stains. The pages are darkened at the edges due to age.
- The tips are slightly deteriorated with light creases and folds.
- The book has not suffered from external aggressions such as humidity, insect attacks, rodents, etc.
- The covers and cuts are well preserved and with little soiling. The upper edge is slightly dirtier. Spine a little loose and fatigued.
- Book shows wear typical of it's age.

Comments:
- Both the Measurements, as well as the Weight, are approximate.

- Very interesting as a collector's item and as a decorative element.

- The tones of the colours in the photos are not the same as the tones of the real colours.
