Beautiful Nandi. Bronze Cebu Young woman standing. In Hindu mythology, Nandi is the Cebu who transports Shiva, that is, the vehicle of God. In addition Nandi is the porter and companion of Shiva, so that also is in the Pantheon of the Gods, considered therefore like a Deity. Shiva is one of the Gods of the Hindu Trinity, being the main Deity. Shiva has three eyes, the third in the middle of the forehead, which is the eye of wisdom. With them you can see past, present and future. Nandi"s four legs represent truth, righteousness, peace and love. We think that this sculpture is very early 19th century, but by its fantastic patina, and by its characteristics, could very well be from the Second Half of the eighteenth century. This young Zebu of bronze, is chiseled in those parts that have been wanted to emphasize, and subject to its base by means of rivets. The right foreleg has it raised. These types of sculptures have been elaborated from ancient times to the present, and with the most diverse materials, always as a symbol of Deity for the home. Rare piece to find. Very interesting as a collection and decorative piece. Spectacular in an illuminated alcove, with a minimalist decoration.
