Beautiful pencil sharpener A.W. Faber, model Janus 4046, was manufactured in Germany between 1935 and 1940. In its front part it keeps its original blade. On its back it has the inscriptions" 4046 "" A.W. Faber "" Janus" "Germany". In the center has a "scale" as a logo. The sides are striated, in order to improve their grip. They were made with two aspects, when using different materials. Some were made of brass and others made of aluminum.
This type of pencil sharpener was used by drawing professionals, such as architects or engineers, being therefore a high quality pencil sharpener. Therefore, it had a high price and a relatively limited number of units were manufactured.
It has been chosen to darken the photos a little, in order to improve the vision of their inscriptions. The pencil sharpener has the most shiny brass, and with a much cleaner appearance than him. It is difficult to find in that state of conservation. Very interesting as a collector"s item. Spectacular in an illuminated niche, with minimalist decoration.
