Precious Roman Scale of the S.XIX. This type of Roman scale was used regularly in travel, for its small size and its lower weight, with the large wooden arm and the small bronze arm. This Roman scale is of some precision, if we consider the type of balance and the epoch to which it belongs.
In the balance, noble materials have been used, such as a fairly hard wood, iron and bronze, and it is also made with a high quality finish. Due to its characteristics, we located it at the beginning of the 19th century. and it could even be located at the end of the XVIII century.
It is a sliding scale, with a double scale of measurement on the long wooden arm, which leads to double loyalty.
The small scale includes weights between 0kg. and 3 kg. It is divided into 16 parts per kilo, which is 62.5 grams per part.
The small scale uses the faithful small iron, located on the point of support of the corresponding iron suspension ring. Being the Roman scale of sliding weight, and of small size, in the small scale the precision of positioning of the weight can easily vary in half of the scale, which supposes approximate jumps of about 30 grams.
The large scale comprises weights between 3kg. and 18 kg. It is divided into 4 parts per kilo, which is 250 grams per part.
The large scale uses the large bronze faithful, located on the support point of the corresponding iron suspension ring. Being the Roman scale of sliding weight, and of small size, in the large scale the accuracy of placement of the weight can easily vary in half of the scale, which implies approximate jumps of about 125 grams.
On the short bronze arm there is a hook, which is where the merchandise hangs despite.
The short arm has two pentagonal contrasts, being able to distinguish in the interior of one of them a capital Z.
The long wooden arm has five pentagonal contrasts, being able to distinguish in the interior of one of them a capital Z.
It is a rare scale to find, with this quality and size. Very interesting as a collector"s item and decorative element. Spectacular in an illuminated niche, with minimalist decoration.
