- Moustache box with points from the second half of the 19th century.
- It probably belonged to a compass box. It is made up of two pieces. Handle and body of points.
- The handle is made of bone, ending in a beautiful ball.
- The handle is attached to the point body by means of a bolt embedded in the head of the body. The steel body is rigid-legged with the tips unified in one piece.
- The opening of the moustache, i.e. the distance between the legs of the tips, is adjusted by means of a wheel which is screwed onto an adjusting screw, which passes freely through one leg and is fixed to the opposite leg by means of a micro bolt, which allows it to be rotated.
- This distance is the one that allows to maintain a fixed distance for its transfer.
Preservation and damage:
- The quality of the materials and manufacture of the moustache holder is very good.
- The tips are in good condition. There is some rust and dirt.
- It would be advisable to clean and treat the rust, which would significantly improve its appearance, and would also enhance the value of the piece.
