Buy Ink bottle holder. Metal. S.XIX

- Ink mustache box from the second half of the 19th century.
- It probably belonged to a compass box. It is made up of two pieces. Handle and body.
- It has the inscription "Stanley" on one of the arms.
- The handle is made of a white metal alloy, with a bolt. It is knurled to improve the grip.
- The opening of the moustache, i.e. the distance between the needle arm and the arm with the body of the tabs, is adjusted by means of a wheel that is screwed onto a threaded pin, fixed to the needle arm by means of a micro pin, which allows it to be rotated.
- This distance is used to set the radius of the circumference to be drawn.
- The needle is graduated and fixed by means of a wheel with a small threaded pin.
- It is of great importance that the object has a distinctive mark or contrast, in order to be able to identify data such as its author, the place where it was made and other details.
Preservation and damage:
- The needle is in very good condition. The quality of the materials and the manufacture of the moustache is very good.
- The state of preservation is superb. Although the steel of these drawing instruments is usually quite rusty, this moustache whisker has a rust-free steel.
- The whisker has been thoroughly cleaned.
- The tips are in good condition.
- The quality of the materials and manufacture of the compass is excellent.
- The object shows wear and tear typical of it"s age.
