- Engraving Arch of Tyrol. This is a triumphal arch in the city of Innsbruck, Tyrol. It is one of the city"s most recognisable landmarks, located at the southern end of the present-day Maria-Theresien-Strabe, formerly known as the city"s southern road.
- All titles and signatures are outside the plate.
- In the upper margin is the legend "Tyrol - Tyrol".
- In the lower margin is the legend "Arco - Arco".
- In the upper right-hand corner is printed the number "4", which suggests that the engraving is number 4 in a series.
- Henri Boisseau was a French engraver, draughtsman and painter. A pupil of Paul Delaroche, he submitted his first work to the "Salon" in 1842. His works include
- Chalcographic etching on steel plate, although another technique could also have been used.
- Produced in single-colour black tone, very well inked.
- It is probably an engraving belonging to a book.
Conservation and damage:
- General condition: Good.
- The upper side of the paper does not keep the parallel to its opposite side, resulting in the paper of the engraving with an irregular shape.
- The ink is very good and the print is well stamped.
- The engraving has a medium-thickness paper of regular quality.
- The engraving has suffered from humidity, so the paper has damp stains and rust spots, all of which are more pronounced as we get closer to the edges.
- The engraving is dirty, and the edges are much dirtier, with very small tears, and the tips are slightly deteriorated with slight bending.
- A light washing and bleaching would be a very good result.
