- These are six illustrations from a series called: Nise Murasaki Genji no omokage. Fake Murasaki and the Vestige of Genji.
- It is a late Edo period Japanese literary parody of the tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu.
- The six illustrations are devoted to the following chapters: Nio Miya (Her perfumed highness). Maboroshi (The Magician). Sakaki (The Sacred Tree). E Awase (A Picture Contest). Hotaru (Fireflies). Asagao (Morning Glory).
- The artist Utagawa Kunisada II was a Japanese ukiyo-e print designer, one of three who took the name "Utagawa Kunisada". He headed the Utagawa school.
- The type of print is Genji-e. Woodcut, wood engraving. Washi paper.
- Censor"s stamp: Tiger 6 aratame.
- Illustrated single-sided, in colour, on fine paper of good quality. In pairs, in blocks of two.
Conservation and damage:
- General condition: Good.
- They are very well inked, and have good stamping.
- Two of them have small moth holes.
- One of them has a horizontal fold mark.
- In general they have slight stains and the margins are partially trimmed.
- The engravings show wear and tear typical of their age.
