- Engraving Waterfall of Estaubach, in Switzerland.
- All the titles and signatures are outside the plate.
- In the upper margin is the legend "Lauterbrunen - Lauterbrunnen".
- In the lower margin is the legend "Cascade de Staubbach - Fall des Staubbacha - Cascada de Estaubach".
- This waterfall, known as Staubbachfall, is the third highest waterfall in Switzerland at almost 300m. It is called the Pulverised Waterfall because, in summer, the warm winds that swirl the water in all directions cause it to spray.
- The number ,38, is printed in the upper right-hand corner, suggesting that the engraving is number 38 in a series.
- In the lower right corner, the Engraver signs only as Rouargue, so it is by one of the two Rouargue brothers. In our opinion, the author of the engraving plate is most probably Adolphe Rouargue (1810 - 1870).
- Chalcographic etching on steel plate, although another technique could also have been used.
- Produced in single-colour black tone, very well inked.
- It is probably an engraving belonging to a book.
Conservation and damage:
- General condition: Regular.
- The right side of the paper does not maintain the parallel to its opposite side, resulting in the paper of the engraving with an irregular shape.
- The ink is very good and the print is well stamped.
- The engraving has a medium-thickness paper of regular quality.
- The engraving has suffered from humidity, so the paper has several humidity stains and rust spots, all of which are more pronounced as we get closer to the edges.
- The engraving is dirty, and the edges are much dirtier, with very small tears, and the tips are slightly deteriorated with slight bending.
- A light washing and bleaching would be a very good result.
