- All titles and signatures are outside the plate.
- In the upper margin it has the legend "Mer de Glace - Mar de Glace - Mer de Glace".
- In the lower margin is the legend "Montanvert - Montanrert - Montanvert".
- Glacier Montanvert was the common name in the 18th century for a part of the glacier in the Alps, now known as the Mer de Glace, on the northern slopes of the Mont Blanc massif.
- In the upper right-hand corner is the number ,37,, which suggests that the engraving is number 37 in a series.
- In the lower right-hand corner, the engraver signs it only as Rouargue, so it is by one of the two Rouargue brothers. In our opinion, the author of the engraving plate is most probably Adolphe Rouargue (1810 - 1870).
- Chalcographic etching on steel plate, although another technique could also have been used.
- Produced in single-colour black tone, very well inked.
- It is probably an engraving belonging to a book.
