- In the lower margin is the legend "Chateau Gaillard - Château de Gaillard".
- In the upper right-hand corner is printed the number "264 B 275", which suggests that the engraving is number 264 B 275 of a series.
- Château Gaillard, a ruined medieval fortress perched on a cliff, is located in the heart of the Norman Vexin, about 100 km from Paris. It is a part of French history overlooking the Seine valley.
- Augustin François Lemaître: French engraver, lithographer, designer, publisher and photographer. He depicted many landscapes, monuments, architecture and people, especially during his many travels in Europe.
