- Engraving corresponding to Plate 4 of Civilisation, belonging to the Illustrated Popular Encyclopaedia of Sciences and Arts, produced by Federico Gillman, and formed in accordance with the Iconographic Encyclopaedia and the Conversations Lexicon of Germany.
- The engraving depicts various prehistoric elements such as tombs in Sweden, in Meclemnurg, etc.
- In the upper margin is the title "CIVILISATION", and in the upper right-hand corner is printed "Lam. 4", which identifies it as engraving number 4 in a series on civilisations.
- In the lower margin are the identifications of the different prehistoric objects such as dolmens, the enchanted cave in Saumur, etc.
- Intaglio etching on steel, although another technique could also have been used.
