- It is signed by Fernando Cabrera Cantó (1866-1937), a painter, draughtsman and watercolourist from Alicante, who was equally successful in social, religious, portrait and landscape painting. His work of a social nature is in keeping with the tradition of 19th-century painting, but in literary themes, the appearance of Impressionism and the incorporation of plein air in his landscapes make him a modern and expressive painter due to his loose brushstrokes and rich colour.
- The painting depicts the Holy Family with Saint Johnny. The child Jesus is playing with his cousin Saint John, while his mother Mary is sewing and his father is working with wood.
