- All titles and signatures are outside the plate. The draughtsman is unknown.
- In the upper margin is the legend "France (SºXIIº) - France (XIIºS)".
- In the lower margin is the legend "Chafse emaillée conservée à la Cathédrale de Chartres - Enamelled urn conserved in the Cathedral of Chartres".
- The number '273' is printed in the upper right-hand corner, suggesting that the engraving is number 273 of a series. There is another numbering at the bottom 69 France.
- Léon Gaucherel (1816-1886). Painter and engraver, born in Paris. He engraved reproductions of ancient and contemporary paintings for various archaeological publications, but then etched reproductions of ancient and contemporary paintings.
- This engraving was probably made with a steel etching plate, although a different technique could also have been used.
- It is executed in a single-colour black tone. The inking of the plate is good, and both the quality and the definition of the lines is also good, so it is probably from an early print run.
- It is probably an engraving belonging to a book, so it could have been bound.
