- Engraving corresponding to Plate 45 of Civilisation, belonging to the Popular Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Sciences and Arts, made by Federico Gillman, and formed according to the Iconographic Encyclopaedia and the Conversations Lexicon of Germany.
- The engraving depicts national costumes of various countries, as well as various events such as horse racing in England, an inclined plane of snow in Russia, and so on.
- In the upper margin is the title ‘CIVILISATION’, and in the upper right-hand corner is printed ‘Lam. 45’, which identifies it as the 45th engraving in a series on civilisations.
- In the lower margin are the identifications of different events such as the representation of the Passion in Oberammergau, the dance of the swords in the Holstein, etc.
- Intaglio etching on steel, although a different technique could also have been used.
- Made in single-colour black tone, very well inked, centred with acceptable margins and with a good stamping.
- The fact that the engraving has a distinctive mark or contrast is of great importance in order to be able to identify data such as the engraver, the artist, the place where it was printed and other details.
