- Sultan Selim II, the son of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, had no interest in military matters and was more interested in art and poetry.
- The number ‘17’ is printed in the upper right corner, which suggests that the engraving is number 17 in a series.
- Augustin François Lemaître: French engraver, lithographer, designer, publisher and photographer. He depicted many landscapes, monuments, architecture and people, especially during his many travels in Europe.
