- Claude Monet (1840-1926), French painter, one of the founders of Impressionism. His early works are in a Realist style, and at the end of the 1860s he began painting Impressionist works. He participated in several exhibitions throughout his life.
- The painting, commonly called The Bridge at Argenteuil, was painted seven times by its author. Painted in oil, it is housed in the Musée d'Orsay. The work shows a foreshortened perspective, from bottom to top, of a railway bridge with wide arches. However, the bridge, of the same design, is a road bridge in the same city. Instead of a series of rounded arches, it consists of a single, cavity-shaped arch with compartments, supported by four pairs of elongated cement cylinders.
- The print is glued only at the top to a piece of cardboard with a wide, light gray border around the print.
- The print is removable but blank. At the bottom is a description of the print and the names of two people, probably former owners. It is now in a museum.
