ENGRAVING CIVILISATION 42 GRAS Cª TOURNAMENT AND FIREWORKS.

Description:
- Engraving corresponding to Plate 42 of Civilisation, belonging to the Popular Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Sciences and Arts, made by Federico Gillman, and formed according to the Iconographic Encyclopaedia and the Conversations Lexicon of Germany.
- The engraving shows different activities that were carried out between the 16th and 17th centuries.
- In the upper margin is the title ‘CIVILISATION’, and in the upper right-hand corner is printed ‘Lam. 42’, which identifies it as engraving number 42 in a series on civilisations.
- In the lower margin are the identifications of the different activities such as: Dancing at the court of Vienna in 1650, a Hungarian royal herald of the 16th century, a theatre in 1630, etc.
- Intaglio etching on steel, although another technique could also have been used.
- Made in monochrome black tone, very well inked, centred with acceptable margins and with a good stamping.
- The fact that the engraving has a distinctive mark or contrast is of great importance in order to be able to identify data such as the engraver, the artist, the place where it was printed and other details.

Conservation and Damage:
- General condition Good.
- The engraving is on medium-thick paper of fair quality.
- The paper is somewhat dirty, with some rust stains.
- The engraving has small tears and folds at the edges and tips.
- If a cleaning is applied, the result could be very acceptable.
