ENGRAVING CIVILISATION PLATE 29 GRAS & Cª. ROMAN HISTORICAL CHARACTERS, SCYTHES, ETC.

Description:
- Engraving corresponding to Plate 29 of Civilisation, belonging to the Popular Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Sciences and Arts, made by Federico Gillman, and formed according to the Iconographic Encyclopaedia and the Conversations Lexicon of Germany.
- The engraving depicts various historical and period figures, such as high-ranking officials, the Empress Theodora with her ladies, a Frank, a Dacian, and so on.
- In the upper margin is the title 'CIVILISATION', and in the upper right-hand corner is printed 'Lam. 29', which identifies it as engraving number 29 in a series on civilisations.
- In the lower margin are the identifications of the different characters such as B.C. Western Europeans, Arechis Duke of Lombardy with his court, etc.
- Intaglio etching on steel, although another technique could also have been used.
- Made in black monochrome tone, very well inked, centred with acceptable margins and with a good stamping.
