ENGRAVING CIVILIZATION 49 GRAS Cª RELIGIOUS, DEACON, NUNS, PRIESTS, JESUITS, ETC.

Description:
- Engraving corresponding to Plate 49 of Civilisation, belonging to the Popular Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Sciences and Arts, made by Federico Gillman, and formed according to the Iconographic Encyclopaedia and the Conversations Lexicon of Germany.
- The engraving depicts various religious figures, such as priests, bishops, nuns, etc., all from different religious orders.
- In the upper margin is the title ‘CIVILISATION’, and in the upper right-hand corner is printed ‘Lam. 49’, which identifies it as Engraving number 49 in a series on civilisations.
- In the lower margin are the identifications of the different religious figures such as the Carthusian friar, Italian abbot, Armenian bishop, provost, Franciscan nun, etc.
- Chalcographic etching on steel, although another technique could also have been used.
