- The book, written in Spanish, with a very curious content, is very well structured and of the highest interest.
- The author is P. Teodoro de Almeida, of the Congregation of the Oratory of S. Felipe Neri and of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, Member of the Royal Society of London and of the Royal Society of Vizcaya.
- Teodoro de Almeida (1722-1804) was a Portuguese Catholic priest, writer and philosopher, as well as one of the most important figures of the Portuguese Enlightenment. He began writing in Portugal in the mid-18th century. As a member of the Congregation of the Oratory of St Philip Neri, he was exiled in France from 1767 to 1778, during the persecution of the clergy by the government of the Marquis of Pombal.
- First edition, with the original period binding. 'Philosophical Recreation or Dialogue on natural philosophy for the instruction of curious persons who did not frequent the classrooms.

Conservation and Damage:
- General condition: Good.
- Stitched binding in good condition, slightly fatigued.
- Cuts splashed with fine specks and with some soiling.
- Binding fatigued, with part of the spine detached.
- Text pages are in good condition, with no tears or stains.
- Some pages are slightly browned.
- The tips are slightly deteriorated with light creases and folds.
- The book has not suffered major external aggressions from humidity, insect attacks, rodents, etc.
- There is a small hole in the cover of the first volume. There is a smudge of ink on the flyleaf.
- The book shows wear typical of its age.
