Description:
- Used 5-cent postage stamp from Spain, dated 1909. Green in colour.
- On the front, inside a green striped circle, is the profile bust of King Alfonso XIII looking to the right, in green, surrounded by the Collar of the Golden Fleece, and above it the royal crown. At the bottom, ‘ESPAÑA’ in white, with a fleur-de-lis on each side. Below is ‘CORREOS’. At the top is “5” and ‘Cs.’ in each corner, inside small white shields. On the sides are leaf watermarks.
- Wavy postmark.
- Vertical perforation: 16. Vertical perforations: 15.
- Horizontal perforation: 13. Horizontal perforations: 12.
- Printed on thin, good quality, off-white paper, in a single shade of green, with very good ink, good printing and poor centring.
- No distinctive features, marks or contrasts have been found that could provide further information about this postage stamp.
Conservation and Damage:
- General condition: Good.
- The stamp has been recently washed, so it does not retain its gum.
- No flaws or tears are visible on the stamp.
- The perforation has some flaws.
- The postage stamp shows deterioration typical of it's age.
