RESIN BOX WITH RED CINNABAR LACQUER. 20TH C.

Description:
- Precious box made with successive layers of opaque natural lacquer.
- This process is carried out until the necessary thickness is obtained for carving.
- We place it in the first half of the 20th century, which means that instead of having opaque lacquer in its inner layers, this could be synthetic resin, as this was the period when this material was first used.
- It has a brass core. Coats of white primer. The final exterior finish has a layer of red cinnabar lacquer. It is painted black in the deepest parts of the scenes. The interior is painted black.
- When viewed with a magnifying glass, the layers of cinnabar lacquer and white primer can be seen to have worn away, leaving the opaque natural lacquer visible.
- It depicts a nature scene, with rocks, plants and trees, in which a thin bridge can be seen, and in the background a small boat.
- Geometric figures develop around the perimeter, both on the lid and on the base of the box.
- No distinctive mark or contrast has been found that could provide information on where it was made, the maker's details, or any other information.

Conservation and Damage:
- The box is in perfect condition.
- It retains a spectacular period patina.
- It has minor knocks and scuffs due to age.
- The object shows the wear and tear typical of it's age.
