Description:
Beautiful couple of cardholders. They are used to signal a position, a name or any other indication whose support is that of a thin cardboard with a maximum size of A6 (105 mm x 148.5 mm) approximately. We place it in Japan, although they could be Chinese.
They are made with two brass plates, fixed together and forming a single body. A small hinge has been fixed on each rear plate, in which the two legs are welded, which open supporting the card holder slightly inclined.
The front plates have a copper bath, and are finely worked with a miniature in relief of meticulous detail and great quality.
Cardholder 1: Represents a game of shovels between a Geisgha and a Samurai with short and barefoot Kimono. In its lower part there is a cord tied with tassels at its ends. It is whole and its conservation is very good.
Cardholder 2: Represents two cranes, with plants, flowers, trees and water flowing.
In its lower part, originally there was a cord tied with tassels at its ends. They are broken and, therefore, the two ends of the cord with their tassels are missing. It is not whole and its conservation is good.
They are rare card holders to find. These type pieces have been made from remote times to the present, with the most diverse materials, giving them different possible uses.
Very interesting as a collector"s item and decorative element.
Comments: Due to the fact that the differences in tonalities between photos and reality are inevitable, we must bear in mind that the color tones of the photos are not exactly the same as the tones of the actual colors. The piece presents the wear and tear of its time, as well as some stains. It has small flaws. The information provided here are personal opinions not contrasted.
