Description:
- Print Reproduction of a painting called "The Calm of the Night", by Van Der Weyden.
- The author Rogier Van Der Weyden (1400-1464), an early Flemish painter, was appointed painter to the city of Brussels. Although he enjoyed considerable prestige during his lifetime, there are no known signed paintings, nor is there any precise documentation that would allow any work to be attributed to him with complete certainty.
- The plate has not been bound; it was placed directly on the cardboard, as if it were a special edition. It was made available separately from the newspaper L"Illustration.
- L"Illustration is a French newspaper from 1913.
- On the lower part of the card appears: "VAN DER WEYDEN - Le calme du soir (Salon de 1913).
- At the top: "L"Illustration".
Conservation and damage:
- General condition: Very good
- The cardboard is slightly darkened at the edges, due to ageing.
- The tips are slightly deteriorated with slight creases and folds. The cardboard has two small tears on the lower part.
- The sheet has not been subject to external aggressions such as humidity, insect attacks, rodents, etc.
- The sheet shows wear and tear typical of it"s age.
