FRANC 1 PESETA COIN 1966 *75 - EBC

Description:
- Coin of ONE PESETA, with circular form, of the time of the Spanish State presided by Francisco Franco Bahamonde, designed in the year 1966 and minted by the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre in the year 1975.
- Obverse: Bas-relief of the Bust of General Francisco Franco Bahamonde, designed by the sculptor Mariano Benlliure Gil. It is unsigned. The inner perimeter bears the legend ‘FRANCISCO FRANCO CAUDILLO DE ESPAÑA POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS’ (FRANCISCO FRANCO CAUDILLO OF SPAIN BY THE GRACE OF GOD) ‘1966’. On its outer perimeter it has a border of hemispherical dots.
- Reverse: Bas-relief of the Spanish Coat of Arms, with the Eagle of St. John, and the yoke and arrows at its base. At the sides are two columns with a band with the legend ‘PLUS ULTRA’. On the head of the Eagle there is a band with the legend ‘ONE GREAT FREE’. On its inner perimeter it has the legend ‘ONE PESETA’ and two ‘STARS’ with the year of minting inside ‘19’ ‘75’. On its outer perimeter it has a border of hemispherical dots.
- Edge: Fluted without any inscription.
- This coin is made of an alloy of copper, tin and a small amount of aluminium.
- No distinctive mark or contrast has been found that could provide more information about this coin.

Conservation and Damage:
- Its condition is EBC - Very Good Condition - with minor knocks. It retains an attractive patina, despite having been cleaned.
- On both the obverse and reverse of the coin, the high relief shows low wear. The letters ‘C’ and ‘O’ at the end of ‘FRANCISCO’ are defective without the relevant relief, and can be seen very badly.
- The striated edge shows several very small dents.
