Description:
- Chiselled brass bowl with wild fauna and floral motifs.
- The bowl is made from a single piece of brass, with the details bordering the outside and the base.
- It is of folk craftsmanship. We think it may have originated in Asia, mainly in the West.
- There are several carved animals along the bowl, all of them unique and different from each other, but with some similarities between them.
- The workmanship is not meticulous or detailed, and is executed in a coarse manner.
- No distinctive markings, marks or contrasts have been found that could provide information on where it was made, the maker, or any other information.
Conservation and damage:
- The bowl is in a good state of preservation, with minor knocks and scratches.
- There are dark spots of deterioration on the brass, mainly on the inside.
- It retains a nice patina of the period.
- The object shows wear typical of it's age.
