Description:
- Pointed and precision compass, from the second half of the 19th century.
- Made of an alloy of white metals and steel. Stanley brand.
- Stanley, since its creation in 1843, the brand has offered new levels of performance to users, creating more useful tools. Over 170 years of history.
- Probably belongs in a compass box.
- It is in perfect condition for use.
- The legs are rigid, with the upper half made of white metal alloy, and the lower half of steel.
- On one leg the steel piece is fixed, while on the other it is movable, being held in place by a screw and a bolt that runs through the leg to which is screwed a small wheel.
- The opening of the compass, i.e. the distance between the tips, is adjusted by turning the legs on the joint, and is precisely adjusted by means of a wheel on one of the legs. It is this distance that allows a fixed distance to be maintained for moving it.
Conservation and damage:
- The state of preservation is magnificent. Although the steel of these drawing instruments is usually quite rusty, this Proportions Compass has no rust on the steel.
- The compass has been thoroughly cleaned.
- The tips are in good condition.
- The quality of the materials and manufacture of the compass is excellent.
- Very rare and difficult to find.
- The object shows wear typical of it's age.

Comments:
- Both the measurements and the weight are approximate.
