- Medal with flat handle and ring. Plain edge without any inscription.
- Obverse: Saint Frances Chantal, surrounded by an Art Nouveau border, and signed at the bottom by Penin Lyon.
- Reverse: Saint Francis de Sales appears, also surrounded by the same Art Nouveau border and with the same signature.
- The author, Ludovic Penin, was a French medallist, son of medallists, and represented the second generation of engravers in the Penin family.
- The medal is very skillfully made and has an excellent workmanship, achieving harmonious and expressive effects in the high reliefs.
