Description:
- Used 4-cent postage stamp from Spain, dated 1864. Brownish red in colour.
- On the front, inside a brownish red oval surrounded by a brownish red pearl garland, is a bust of Queen Isabella II facing left in light brownish red. At the top, ‘CORREOS’ in brown red, inside a light brown red space. At the bottom, ‘4 Ctos 1864’ in brown red, inside a light brown red space. All surrounded by filigree.
- Circular postmark not legible.
- The postmark shows through on the reverse.
- Vertical: No perforations. No holes.
- Horizontal: No perforations. No holes.
- Printed on medium-weight, good quality paper, light brownish red, in a single brownish red tone, very good ink, good printing and acceptable centring.
- No distinctive features, marks or contrasts have been found that could provide further information about this postage stamp.
Conservation and Damage:
- General condition: Good.
- The stamp has been recently washed, so it does not retain its gum.
- There are no missing parts or tears in the stamp.
- The postage stamp shows the deterioration typical of it's age.
