Description:
- Etching of a map of Alicante. We believe it may be a later reproduction, made by photoengraving.
- Beautiful engraving, in black and white, with numbers, annotations and names written in French. In the centre is a fleur-de-lis.
- The engraving belongs to the French work: ‘Compendium of the main maps, ports and roads of the eastern Mediterranean’ dated 1764. Made by the cartographer Joseph Roux.
- The plan number 6 appears in the upper right margin. The names of the various authors are not identified.
- This is a chalcography, a copperplate etching printing process. It was subsequently made using photoengraving.
- It is small in size and unframed.

Conservation and Damage:
- Overall good condition.
- The engraving is on thick, good quality paper.
- The paper is fairly clean, with hardly any rust or moisture stains.
- The engraving shows the wear and tear typical of it's age.

Comments:
- The measurements are approximate.
- The colours in the photos do not match the actual colours.
- The engraving for sale is the one shown in the photos. The description is not a detailed description of the engraving.
- The information provided here is personal opinion and has not been verified.
