Description:
Beautiful Willow Stone Plate. It is an English pottery with Chinese motif of the famous legend of lovers, also known as the legend of 'Bridge and Pigeons'. The type of blue is known as Willow Blue. Because of the characteristics of the pottery, it could be very early in the nineteenth and even the end of the eighteenth century so it would be, if any, the first manufactured in England. On the reverse side is the manufacturer's stamp with the legend: G. F. Florence. London. The plate is not perfectly circular, having at the edge eight small undulations at the ends of four axes at 45 °. No data on the manufacturer was found, so it was not possible to delimit better the date of its manufacture. It is a somewhat rare piece to find with this antiquity. It presents the own attrition of its time, as well as some stains. It has small damages. The data provided here are unconfirmed personal opinions.
