Description:
- Reproduction of the Reliquary of the Vera Cruz of Astorga, made using various pieces of lace, and finished off with coloured gemstones, resulting in a beautiful filigree.
- The Cross is attached to a board background lined with a green cloth, framed with a gilded wooden fillet.
- The Reliquary of the Vera Cruz is kept in the cathedral of Astorga, in the province of León, Spain. It is a double-armed cross of gold, precious stones and gilded silver. It was made between the 12th and 13th century.
- In the Basilica of the town of Caravaca de la Cruz, in the province of Murcia, Spain, a very similar cross is preserved, which is flanked by two angels.
Conservation and damage:
- The Cross is in a good state of preservation.
- The lower fixing of the cross has come loose from the bottom of the panel.
- The object shows wear and tear typical of it's age.
