Description:
- One hundred peseta coin, circular in shape, from the era of the Spanish State presided over by Francisco Franco Bahamonde, designed in 1966 and minted by the National Mint in 1967.
- Obverse: Bas-relief of the bust of General Francisco Franco Bahamonde. On its outer perimeter is the inscription ‘FRANCISCO FRANCO CAUDILLO DE ESPAÑA POR LA G. DE DIOS’ ‘1967’. On either side of the year are two STARS, with the year of minting “19” and ‘67’.
- Reverse: Bas-relief divided into five parts, with the different emblems of the Spanish coat of arms, the tower, the lion, the chains, the bars, and in the centre the grenade, with the yoke and arrows at its base. The royal crown appears on its head. Around the edge is the inscription ‘100 PTAS’.
- Edge: Smooth with the inscription ‘UNA GRANDE LIBRE’ (A Great Free Country).
- This coin is made of an alloy of 800 thousandths of silver and probably the rest of copper and a small amount of zinc and tin.
- No distinctive markings, stamps or hallmarks have been found that could provide further information about this coin.
Conservation and Damage:
- Its condition is MBC - Very Good Condition - battered. It retains an attractive patina, despite having been cleaned.
- On both the obverse and reverse of the coin, the high relief shows very little wear and tear and has some dents and scratches.
- The smooth edge with the inscription has dents and some wear and tear.
