Description:
- Beautiful hand-painted and lacquered box.
- From Russia, the box has three different signatures, which we have not been able to recognise.
- The front lid has a snowy landscape, buildings and monuments with clear Russian features and styles. Two characters appear at the bottom of the landscape.
- On the four sides there are painted houses and trees, following the same pattern as the main drawing. The interior is lacquered in red.
- There is a mother-of-pearl inlay in the centre of the front cover, the lustre of which produces visual changes in the landscape, simulating the various changes produced in nature by the effect of the sun"s interaction with the clouds.
- The work is very carefully and elaborately handmade.
Conservation and damage:
- It is complete and in a perfect state of preservation, with no breakages.
- It has small rubs and scratches due to use.
- The object shows wear and tear typical of its age.
