Description:
Beautiful Empire-style Table Center, probably made in France, of porcelain glazed in cobalt blue, which could very well be Sevres, with gilded bronze finials. Being the center of pure empire style, we can place it between the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. After having analyzed it carefully, we have come to the conclusion that it possibly belongs to the First Half of the 19th century.
It consists of four parts: foot, neck, cup and handles. The first three pieces are joined by a central axle of threaded rod, while the two handles are attached to the cup by means of a bolt in its upper part, and by means of a threaded shaft in its lower part.
The foot has a square parallelepiped base, gold bronze and shiny patinated. It is supported on four legs of matt gold bronze with feline claw shape, and welded to the corners of the square parallelepiped base. In the upper part of the base, there is a ring of gilded golden bronze, with forms of leaves around its perimeter.
In Cuello has in its lower part a piece of porcelain glazed in cobalt blue, and in its upper part a piece of gilded bronze, treated in shiny patinated gold including the central ring, and in matte gold the lower and upper rings with vegetal forms.
The Cup is porcelain glazed in cobalt blue, and is topped internally by a shiny patinated golden bronze vessel, with a central button of matte gilded bronze with vegetal forms, to which the center axis of the table center is screwed. On its upper outer perimeter, it has a shiny patinated golden bronze frieze, with one upper and one lower hoop. On the frieze there are four sconces of matt gold bronze, each with a central female face surrounded by floral finials and filigree scrolls.
The handles are vertical in gilt bronze, alternating the shiny patina with the matte. Each of them has the face of a faun in its boot, which serves as a basis to integrate the design developed in the upper part.
The entire center is made with great care and taking care of even the smallest little detail. The bronze is meticulously worked and chiselled. It has a fantastic patina. No type of brand, registration or badge has been found, which could guide us on the authors of this spectacular piece.
This type of glasses are rare to find, although it has been elaborated from remote times to the present, and with the most diverse materials, giving them possible uses. Very interesting as a collector"s item or decorative element. Spectacular in an illuminated niche, with minimalist decoration.
