Description:
- Medal Fiftieth anniversary polytechnic school ball.
- In the obverse appears: The dance. Sculptural ensemble made between 1865 and 1869 to decorate the new opera building in Paris.
- It bears two signatures: Jean Baptiste Carpeaux, the French sculptor who created the work for the Paris opera house, and Edmond Emile Lindauer, a prolific engraver and artist, known for minting several of the coins that circulated under the Third Republic.
- The reverse bears the inscription: "Cinquantiéme Bal de L'ecole Polytechnique. 14 février 1933".
- Edge: 'Bronze'.
- This is a beautiful medal, quite rare and difficult to find. Signed by two great authors, and dated.
- The artistic quality of the medal is high, executed in a very personal style and with great skill, achieving harmonious and expressive effects in the high reliefs.

Conservation and Damage:
- The medal, taken as a whole, is in perfect condition.
- It has a beautiful period patina. There are a few minor knocks and scratches.
- Both the obverse and the reverse of the medal show low and uniform wear.
