Description:
- Drawing with charcoal on brown paper, representing a Mermaid with one hand on her hip and the other holding her hair. The Drawing is in the figurative schematic style, carried out with great ease and skill, obtaining a harmonious and spectacular result. Drawing made at its artistic peak.
- The Drawing has the Signature "Klose 53" in the upper right corner.
- The brown paper of the Drawing is glued in some parts of its edges to a thick cardboard. We do not know if it is glued in the center, since it has not been removed from the frame.
- The brown paper in the Drawing has small tears in its edges, as well as some folds. It would be interesting to carry out a restoration.
- The frame is vintage, and is deteriorated, particularly in its upper part. It has an easy restoration.
- The cardboard is the back of the frame, which lacks glass, probably because the painter himself decided so. We believe that a crystal should be worn for your protection.
- The Drawing was a gift from Paul Klose to the family from which it comes, so we think that very possibly, when giving the drawing away, it would be framed.
- Paul Klose (1912-1982) was a German painter, illustrator and typographer, born in the town of Wetzlar, studied in Karlsruhe, Düsseldorf and Berlin, and traveled very frequently.
- In the Wetzlar Municipal Collections (Städtische Sammulengen), an important collection of works by Paul Klose is preserved.
Comments:
- Paul Klose"s original works are scarce, and more so of this type, for which we estimate that he did them on rare occasions.
- Both the Measurements and the Weight are approximate.
- Very interesting as a collector"s item and decorative element.
- Because differences in shades between photos and reality are inevitable, it must be kept in mind that the tones of the colors of the photos are not exactly the same as the tones of the real colors.
- The Object presents the wear typical of its time, as well as some stains. It has small flaws.
- The data provided here are unconfirmed personal opinions.
