A. Knott Compass Box. Complete.

Description:
- Beautiful complete compass box in perfect condition, from the 19th century.
- The box has on the back of the lid the inscription "A.Knott - Yorkshire street - Oldham", which is quite missing.
- It probably dates from the end of the first half of the 19th century, although it could be dated to the beginning of the second half of the 19th century, as the characteristics of the instruments were maintained for a long time, due to the high cost of their design and manufacture.
- It contains a compass with its extension pole and pencil and ink accessories. A pointed compass. A line drawing compass with a bone stylus. Spanner for the head of the pointed compass and screwdriver, an item that is usually missing from many Compass Boxes. Bone tube for mines and an angle protractor.
- The base of the handle ends in a beautifully carved miniature ball.
- The instruments are of high quality. They have been carefully designed and manufactured down to the smallest detail.
- All the elements of the box are original and of period, except for the mine tube and the protractor. Probably the original box was without protractor, but we have added one, as the box is of great quality and deserves it.
- It is a very rare make, for which we have not found any reference.
Preservation and damage:
- The box and all its elements have been thoroughly cleaned.
- There are small bumps and scratches on the tips, due to use.
- The object shows wear and tear typical of it"s age.

- Measurements and weight are approximate.
- Very interesting as a collector- The tones of the colours in the photos are not the same as the tones of the real colours.
