Description:
- Plumb bob Construction from the second half of the 17th century, with a solid bronze weight and without a nut.
- The body of the weight is truncated cone-shaped, 7.5 cm. high and 4.1 cm. in diameter, with a fixed head.
- Due to it"s characteristics it could be earlier, but we are more inclined towards the second half of the 17th century. It is a rare and high quality plumb bob.
- There are several deep grooves along the body.
- The bronze has a very good composition, retaining a natural lustre.
- No distinctive mark or contrast has been found that could provide information about the place where it was made, the maker"s details, or any other information.
- The plumb bob was probably made in southern Europe.
Preservation and damage:
- The plumb bob is in a good state of preservation, although the weight has many, but very minor knocks and scratches.
- The quality of the bronze casting and the execution of the plumb bob is very good.
- It has been decided not to remove the remains of the lime mortar because, as they are very well integrated into the Pesa, they would spoil its special and unique patina.
- The Plumb bob shows the wear and tear of it"s age.
