Description:
- Engraving representing three men, one of them picking up what looks like a fishing net, another one looking at him, and the third one has his arms crossed and is looking straight ahead, by Salvator Rosa.
- This is an engraving from the figurine series, originally called ‘Diverse figure’ or ‘Capricci’. It depicts various types, soldiers, male and female figures and mythological subjects. He was a multi-faceted artist, active in various fields.
- Its author is the 17th century Italian painter, poet and engraver Salvator Rosa (1615-1673). He worked in Naples, where he came from. He is known as rebellious and extravagant. His most popular and influential series is the Figurines.
- Intaglio etching on copperplate, printed on good quality paper, in single-colour black, with very good ink and very good printing.
- On the lower right-hand side is his signature, a monogram with the letters S and R, which correspond to the initials of his full name: Salvator Rosa.
