Description:
Beautiful ashtray of pure Art Deco style, made before 1892, making it a very early piece of Art Deco. It is made of a single piece of yellow bronze, with an elongated octagon shape, at the bottom of which it has a kind of running gazelle, surrounded by blackened enamel. On the edge of one side of the octagon, F. Barbedienne Paris is signed. Engraving after casting using a punch. This ashtray has a fantastic patina, which, together with its characteristics, can be located in the second half of the nineteenth century. In our opinion, when a bronze of Ferdinand Barbedienne does not have the signature or the stamp fused in the piece itself, and it is signed by a punch, not containing the word "Fondeur", it can be an indication that, of the piece in question, A short run was made. These types of pieces were probably designed in F. Barbedienne"s own workshop, where very few of them were made. No such parts could be found.

Comments:
Because the differences in tonalities between photos and reality are inevitable, it must be borne in mind that the color tones of the photos are not exactly the same as the tones of the actual colors. The Piece presents the own attrition of its time, as well as some stains. It has small damages. The data provided here are unconfirmed personal opinions.
