Description:
- The Object for sale is the one corresponding to the photos, which in turn are complemented in this Description, with the aim of providing a better knowledge of the Object, and never being a detailed exhibition of it.
- Beautiful engraving by J. Quariley, based on one of the representations of "Jacob"s Dream" by Gustave Doré (1832 - 1883), from the Holy Bible Illustrations collection.
- Engraving made on a wooden plate, woodcut, in single-colour black tones. Signed on the plate by J. Quariley, as engraver, and Gustave Doré as draughtsman. The title appears outside the plate.
- Jacob dreams of a staircase by which the angels ascend to heaven and descend to earth. This passage is mentioned in Genesis 28, 11-19 of the Bible.
- Gustave Doré (Paul Gustave Doré), of French origin and romantic inspiration, was a multi-faceted artist: illustrator, engraver, draftsman, painter and sculptor. Internationally recognized by his contemporaries, his success as an illustrator was immense and his worldwide renown.
- The Holy Bible, published in 1866, was a large folio edition published in two volumes simultaneously. The Illustrations of the Holy Bible are a series of 241 engravings, designed by Gustave Doré.

Conservation and damage:
- General condition: Good.
- The engraving is on medium-thickness white paper.
- It has very good margins and the image is centred.
- It is very well inked, and has good printing.
- The edges are dirty, with small tears and folds.
- The ends are slightly deteriorated with slight folds and folds.
- The engraving has not suffered any external aggressions such as humidity, insect or rodent attacks, etc.
- If it is slightly washed and bleached, the result would be very good.

Comments:
- Both the measurements and the weight are approximate.

- Very interesting as a collector"s item and as a decorative element.

- Because it is inevitable the differences of tonalities between photos and reality, you must have in mind that the tones of the colours in the photos are not exactly the same as the tones of the real colours.

- The engraving shows the wear and tear of its time, as well as some stains. It has small flaws.
