Description:
- Plumb bob Construction of the Second Half of the XVIIth century, with solid bronze weight and without conserving the nut.
- The body of the weight is cylindrical, 8 cm. high and 4.9 cm. in diameter, with a fixed head.
- Due to it"s characteristics it could be earlier, but we are more inclined towards the second half of the 17th century. It is a rare and high quality plumb bob.
- Along the body it has several superimposed rings, which gives it a great aesthetic appeal.
- The bronze has a very good composition, retaining a natural lustre.
- No distinctive mark or contrast has been found that could provide information on where it was made, the maker"s details, or any other information.
- The plumb bob was probably made in southern Europe.
Preservation and damage:
- The plumb bob is in a good state of preservation, although the weight has many knocks and scratches due to use.
- The quality of the bronze casting and the execution of the plumb bob is somewhat coarse and without much attention to detail, but it is good.
- There is a very good and nice patina all over the plumb bob.
- The plumb bob shows wear typical of it"s age.
