Beautiful compass of tips of the First Half of the S.XX, brass. Brand Stanley - B.W.C. It has an inscription of the spike on one of the arms, corresponding to the Stanley Mark. It also has an inscription of the initials B.W.C, inscribed in a diamond, in the fork.
It would probably belong to a box of measures. It consists of four pieces. Handle, fork and two arms. The handle is grooved to improve the grip. It is riveted to the fork. The fork has an axle on which the arms rotate. In its lower part, it has a small screw whose function is to keep its end closed and tensioned. The opening of the compass, that is, the distance between points, is graduated by turning the arms.
In this way, it is possible to take the measure of a fixed distance for its transfer. One of the arms is sectioned and crossed by a threaded bolt with a stop on its end. To this bolt is screwed a wheel, which allows the arm to be opened, getting that the corresponding tip can be moved with precision. The needles of the tips are graduated and fixed by means of a wheel that incorporates a small bolt threaded and perforated, through which the needle is inserted. The needles are in very good condition. They have some oxidation. The compass of tips has as a whole quite dirt.
It is convenient to carry out a cleaning, and an adequate treatment for the rust, which would significantly improve its appearance, and greatly revalue the piece. Very interesting as a collector"s item.
