Description:
- The box has the inscription "HRH" on the back of the lid and on the inside: "Jackson Bros, LTD. Leeds and Armley".
- The Jackson Brothers mark, from Leeds, England.
- It probably dates from the end of the first half of the 19th century, although it could be dated to the beginning of the second half of the 19th century, as the characteristics of the instruments were maintained for a long time, due to the high cost of their design and manufacture.
- It contains a compass with its extension pole and pencil and ink accessories. A pointed compass. A line drawing pencil with a bone stylus. Bone tube for mines. An angle protractor. A key for the head of the pointed compass, an element that is generally missing from many Compass Boxes.
- All the elements of the box are original except for the point compass, the line puller, the angle protractor and the lead tube.
- Although some of the instruments are not original to the brand, the combination we have made looks spectacular, with all the pieces similar and from the same period.
- The instruments are of high quality.
Condition and damage:
- It has almost no rust, and is in perfect condition for use.
- The compass has been thoroughly cleaned.
- There are small bumps and scratches on the tips, due to use.
- The Object shows wear typical of it"s age.
