Description:
- Pair of children playing musical instruments, in this case flutes.
- This is an Italian firm, which began in 1908, called Fontanini. The company decided to produce characters of singular expressiveness, modelled with precision and based on the ancient tradition of Lucca's craftsmen. Entire generations dedicated to the creation of nativity scenes and various figures characterised by a plasticity reflected in the intensity of their faces and the study of their postures and details. The sculptor Elio Simonetti was the most important sculptor with whom the Fontanini company collaborated.
- The children are numbered and signed by the sculptor, Simonetti, which is why we think that they may be from the first period, as in recent years Fontanini's figures are no longer signed by Elio.
- They have a simple and very elegant design. Made with all kinds of detail, and placed on a base, the children are a real sweetheart.
- Very good proportions, they keep the colours. Numbered 282,283.
- It is of great importance that the object has some Distinctive, Mark or Contrast, in order to be able to identify data such as its author, the place where it was made and other details.
Conservation and Damage:
- The children are in a very good state of preservation.
- They retain a spectacular period patina.
- They have small knocks and scratches due to age. One of them has small cracks all over the body.
- The object shows the wear and tear typical of it's age.
