SCULPTURE CHINESE SAGE WITH MONKEY. WOOD. SOLID. S.XIX.

Description:
- Sculpture of a Chinese sage in solid wood.
- The sculpture has a spectacular workmanship, made with a great detail and with perfect proportions. The workmanship is of very high quality.
- The sculpture represents a Chinese man, carrying on his back, and picking what looks like fruits, very similar to pomegranates. At his feet, there is a monkey clinging to one of the fruits. The figure is dressed in typical Chinese costume, with his hair tied back and beard.
- It has a base, also made of wood. The whole piece is hand-carved and solid.
- On the base of the sculpture are two numerals: 79-17. And on the base there are what look like letters: Izo.
- No distinctive mark or contrast has been found that could provide information on where it was made, the maker's details, or any other information.

Conservation and Damage:
- The object is in very good condition.
- There is a break in the wood at one end of the trousers. On the back of one of the sandals there is another break. The left leg of the overalls has a crack.
- It has been thoroughly cleaned and waxed.
- The Object shows wear and tear typical of it's age.
