Description:
Beautiful box of powders. This box is used in India to contain the Kumkuma, which is a red powder made with turmeric. The Kumkuma is used to mark a pinto on the forehead (the third eye), through which humanity opens spiritually to the Divine. Also the Kumkuma is used to worship the gods, throwing it above them.
Since from the most remote times these boxes have been made with the same technique, and although this box has been placed in the First Half of the 19th century, it could well be framed in the Second Half of the 18th century due to its particular characteristics, both its execution as for its magnificent patina.
In the lower part of the triangle opposite that of the hinge, it has an inscription in the form of "H", made with a small chisel through three incisions.

Comments:
Very interesting as a collection and decorative piece. Spectacular in an illuminated niche, with a minimalist decoration.
It is very rare to find.
Because the differences in tonalities between photos and reality are inevitable, keep in mind that the color tones of the photos are not exactly the same as the tones of the actual colors. The piece presents the wear and tear of its time, as well as some stains. It has small flaws. The information provided here are personal opinions not contrasted.
