Description:
- Oil painting of a librarian standing on a ladder and reading.
- It is a contemporary copy of a painting by Carl Spitzweg.
- Carl Spitzweg (1808-1885) was a German painter of Romanticism, considered among the most important representatives of the Biedermeier period. He was self-taught.
- The painting depicts a man in a library, standing on a ladder and reading a book.
- The painting is executed in ochre and green tones, with great ease in the brushstrokes.
- It is painted with small, fine brushstrokes, which gives the painting great liveliness.
- The painting is small in size, very close to a miniature.
- The details and the handling of the colours are truly magnificent.
- The frame is period.
